Kiwi Sculpture Project

The Kiwi Sculpture Project Fund has been established to support the creation and installation of a landmark 20-foot-high kiwi sculpture designed by acclaimed New Zealand artist Robert Onnes.

Led by a collective of local supporters and arts organisations, the project celebrates two things that make Whakatāne unique: its growing reputation as a centre for arts and culture, and its connection to one of New Zealand's most iconic native species.

With kiwi thriving in the Whakatāne and Ōhope scenic reserves, the sculpture will serve as a powerful symbol of local identity and pride.
